Indonesia Participate on Hungarian Children′s Day

The Hungarian National Children′s Day held on May 25th, 2011 was a momentum to promote Indonesia to Hungary. seizing the opportunity during the event, the Indonesian Embassy has taken part in the form of culture performance by presenting Indonesian traditional dance and music.

Badinding dance from West Sumatra and Kuda Lumping dance from Central Java performed by Indonesian children age between 7 to 10 years was presented to the audiences. performed also was the Angkulng Arumba instruments playing several Indonesian, Hungarian and western song such as Pelangi (Rainbow), Balonku (my balloon), Ular Naga (Dragon song), My Bonnie and Csarga Csiko from Hungary.

Mayor of Budapest, Mr. Istvan Tarlos and Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Laszlo Kover paid a visit to the Indonesian tent where both of them were greeted by Indonesian Ambassador, H.E. Maruli Tua Sagala. in the Indonesian tent, Mr. Kover and Mr. Istvan had the chance to taste Indonesian snack, rempeyek (peanut creckers) and dadar gulung (Indonesian cannellon) and drank coconut water product of Indonesia. together with other children present in the tent, they too, tried to play the Angklung Instrument displayed in the tent.

Later on, Ambassador Maruli Tua Sagala was interviewed by Magyar Televizio (MTV) Hungary. At the interview, Ambassador Sagala explained about Angklung, an instrument deriving from West Java and Indonesian batik cloth, which has been recognized as one of the World Heritage by UNESCO.

The event has attracted quite a lot of audiences, not only Hungarian children but also teenagers and olders accompanying the children, whether trying to play the instrument or to taste the Indonesian delicacies. By participating on such event like Children′s Day, it is hope thet it will broaden the knowledge of Indonesia by the Hungarian including students, teenagers and olders.

Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, together with several travel agents from Indonesia and Hungary participated in the largest Tourism Fair in Budapest, Hungary.
Last August 17th, 2014 Indonesia Celebrate their Independence Day and closing the celebration with Diplomatic Reception on the next September 10th.
