US, European Diplomats to Make Field Trip in Lombok Island

Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - A number of US and European diplomats based in Jakarta are expected to make a three-day visit in Lombok Island, West Nusatanggara province, starting on October 25, a provincial administration spokesman said.

"We have official information from the Directorate General for America and Europe at the Foreign Ministry about the foreign embassy officials` plan to make an Economic Diplomatic Field Trip," in Lombok Island, the West Nusa Tenggara provincial administration`s chief information officer, H Lalu Moh Faozal, said here Friday.

He said the Economic Diplomatic Field Trip would be facilitated by the Directorate General for America and Europe of the Foreign Ministry.

It was hoped the diplomats` visit would later result in cooperative efforts to develop West Nusa Tenggara`s potentials to the benefit of their countries and Indonesia, West Nusatenggara in particular, he said.

"On October 14, an advance team will arrive here to coordinate with various local parties on the diplomatic trip ," he said.

Faozal said the participants of the Economic Diplomatic Field Trip were expected to visit economic centers, cultural centers and tourist sites in West Nusa Tenggara besides attending a one-day seminar in which West Nusa Tengara Governor TGH M. Zaidul Najdi would appear.

"West Nusa Tenggara`s economic potentials are expected to be promoted to American and European countries. I think it will be an important momentum for development in Indonesia and the province in particular," Faozal said.(*)
