Eka Octarorianus Secures First SEA Games Gold for RI

Rower Eka Octarorianus has secured the first SEA Games gold for Indonesia in the Men′s 1,000-meter singles canoe race in Karawang, West Java, on Friday.

Time calculations have not yet been officially announced by the competition committee.

During the race, Eka beat Win Htike from Myanmar, Van Long Tran from Vietnam, Rungsawan Suansan from Thailand and Dany Funelas from the Philippines.

When reporters asked him how he felt shortly after the race, he only said "Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah [Praise God]."

Earlier this morning, in the Men′s 1000-meter kayak singles event (1000K1M), Indonesian rower Muchlis came third after Thai Wichan Jaiteng and Singaporean Lucas Teo.

Both events were held at Lake Cipule in Karawang.
