ASEAN Foreign ministers Kock Off Bali Meeting

Foreign ministers of the 10 ASEAN member countries on Tuesday commenced a two-day meeting in Bali ahead of the 19th ASEAN Summit that is scheduled to take place there later this week.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting is set to discuss a number of regional issues, including the plan to create a single ASEAN visa, the development of the ASEAN Community and implementation of the ASEAN Charter.

The meeting will also discuss the results of the preceding meeting of the ASEAN senior officials, also held in Bali, and the non-formal meeting of foreign ministers in New York on Sep. 24.

The two previous meetings discussed a proposal to establish the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

The issue of the South China Sea disputes is also among topics to be discussed, kompas.com reported.
